Privacy Policy

We collect as little as we can, and we delete it when you're done.

What we collect

Your email address, so you can sign in and reach what you bought.
The case information you enter or upload: the court, case number, the company suing you, the amount claimed, the allegations, and your answers to our questions.
Which lessons you have marked complete, and which documents you have generated.

We do not ask for your Social Security number, your date of birth, or your driver's license number.
We do not store full credit card or bank account numbers. Where an account appears in your lawsuit, we keep only the last four digits.
We never see or store your payment card details. Payments are handled by Stripe.
We do not use passwords. Signing in uses a one-time link sent to your email.

When you upload a lawsuit, it is used to fill in your case details and is not kept on our servers afterwards.
Documents you generate download directly to your device. We keep your case details so you can rebuild a document without starting over.

Case information is deleted automatically 18 months after you last use it. Every time you work on your case, that clock resets, so an active case is never deleted out from under you.
You can delete your case information yourself at any time from your account page.
We keep a record of what you purchased, so that deleting your case data does not cost you access to something you paid for.

Only you. Your records are restricted at the database level so no other customer can read them.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with debt collectors, law firms, or advertisers.
We use service providers to run the product, including hosting, our database, email delivery, Stripe for payments, and the analytics tools described below. They only handle what they need to provide their service.

We count visits so we can tell which pages help people and which ones confuse them. We use two tools for this: Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics.
Google Analytics puts a small file called a cookie in your browser. It lets us tell a return visit apart from a new one. It does not hold your name, your email, or anything about your case.
We turned Google's advertising features off. What you do on this site is not used to aim ads at you, here or anywhere else. Looking up a debt lawsuit should not follow you around the internet.
We never send your case details to these tools. They see the page address and nothing else. If a page address has extra information stuck on the end of it, we strip that off before it is sent.
Vercel Analytics counts page visits without any cookie at all.
If you block cookies, use private browsing, or run an ad blocker, the site still works exactly the same. Nothing here is behind analytics.

You can see everything you own on your account page.
You can delete your case information at any time.
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete your account entirely, by emailing support@casedefender.com.
